Zoé Claessens came second in the BMX Racing World Championships in Rock Hill for the second time in her career.

At the BMX Racing World Championships, Zoé Claessens ensured success from a Swiss perspective. The 23-year-old made it onto the podium in second place in Rock Hill, South Carolina, as she did two years ago in Nantes. The Vaudois was only narrowly defeated by local Alise Willoughby in the final. Claessens was 37 hundredths of a second short of the gold medal. Another American, Daleny Vaughn, took bronze.

Butti out in the quarterfinals

For men, the fight for the medals took place without Swiss participation. Hopeful Cédric Butti, who finished the World Cup second overall, had to give up in the quarterfinals after a fall. Filib Steiner, Gil Brunner and Renaud Blanc also got stuck at this level. Former world champion Simon Marquart was eliminated in the round of 16.

The new world champion was the Frenchman Joris Daudet, who prevailed ahead of the Dutchman Niek Kimmann and compatriot Sylvain André.
