Bob Dylan: the singer will publish a book next November

Winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2016, the legendary American singer Bob Dylan will publish a new book, announced his publisher, Simon and Schuster.

Baptized “The Philosophy of Modern Song”, his work, the first since “Chronicles, volume 1” (2004), will be released on November 8 in the United States. In France, it will be published by Fayard editions.

Real name Robert Allen Zimmerman, the 80-year-old star began writing in 2010. His publisher specifies that his new work includes more than 60 texts, in particular on artists such as Hank Williams and Nina Simone, and on the art of the composition of texts and melodies.

“The publication of Bob Dylan’s brilliant, kaleidoscopic work will be a worldwide tribute to song by one of the greatest artists of our time,” said Simon and Schuster publishing boss Jonathan Karp. “’The Philosophy of Modern Song’ could only have been written by Bob Dylan,” he continues.

“Her voice is unique, and her work carries her deep appreciation and understanding of the songs, the people who create them, and what it means to all of us.”

Appearing on the New York scene in the early 1960s, Bob Dylan has sold more than 125 million albums around the world and has had a string of concerts, with a current tour which is due to continue until 2024.

He had released his 39th studio album in 2020, entitled “Rough and Rowdy Ways”. In 2016, Bob Dylan was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature “for creating new modes of poetic expression within the great tradition of American music.”
