Actor Bob Odenkirk is releasing a book of poetry he co-wrote with his children.

The US actor Bob Odenkirk (60) is best known for his role as the shady lawyer Saul Goodman from the series “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul”. However, a new project by the actor will be much more family-friendly. He will publish a children’s book that his daughter worked on.

“Pretty silly and kinda crazy”

When his children were young, he didn’t read fairy tales or stories to them, instead he wrote little poems with them. “I really wanted them to be a part of it”, explains Odenkirk to the US magazine “People”. For example, he wrote a line, then his children wrote one and together they tried to finish the whole thing. The resulting poems are “pretty silly and a lot of them are kind of crazy,” Odenkirk continues. But he kept them because some of them were “not just gibberish”.

During the corona pandemic, his son Nathan (24) and daughter Erin (22) asked him about the poems. As Erin says, her father got out his book and the idea for a children’s book was born. He then suggested that she illustrate the book. The result is titled “Zilot & Other Important Rhymes” and is scheduled for release in October. According to Odenkirk’s daughter, new poems are also included.

Bob Odenkirk is spending more time with family after heart attack

In 2021, the actor suffered a heart attack on the set of “Better Call Saul”. “I’m starting to wonder what’s the best way to spend my time,” Odenkirk now explains. Spending hours with loved ones and taking time off is becoming more and more important to him. Daughter Erin, who may appreciate moments that “feel small or normal,” feels the same way.
