‘What You Won’t Do For Love’ singer dies at 71

Bobby Caldwell is dead. The “What You Won’t Do For Love” singer died at the age of 71, according to his wife.
The American singer, songwriter and musician Bobby Caldwell (1951-2023) is dead. His wife, Mary Caldwell, confirmed this on Twitter. “Bobby died here, at home. I held him tight in my arms when he left us,” she writes on the official account of the singer in a short statement.
Her heart was broken forever, but Caldwell thanks her for the many prayers the singer’s fans have given over the past few years. “Rest on God, my love,” she says goodbye to her husband.
Bobby Caldwell’s biggest hit was “What You Won’t Do for Love”
Bobby Caldwell’s biggest hit is the 1978 song “What You Won’t Do for Love”. According to the information on the singer’s website The song has been reissued or sampled by more than 100 acts over the past few decades – including legendary rapper Tupac Shakur (1971-1996) for his posthumously released song “Do for Love”. Among others, Michael Bolton (70) and the group Boyz II Men have also recorded newer versions.
Born in Manhattan and raised in Miami, Caldwell decided to pursue a career in music at just 17 years old. His early influences included Nat King Cole (1919-1965), Frank Sinatra (1915-1998), Tony Bennett (96) and the Beatles.
