Bobby Kotick responsible for Overwatch 2 delay?

After the recent takeover of Activision Blizzard, the Overwatch community is in turmoil. Could this acquisition of Microsoft advance the production of Overwatch 2? According to one of the developers working on the game, all of this is actually the fault of Bobby Kotick.

The CEO had recently blamed the delay in the production of Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 as being responsible for the fall in the stock market of Activision Blizzard, voluntarily leaving aside the scandals of sexual harassment which target some of the company’s employees. An accusation which revolted the teams working on the second opus of the FPS which, according to one of them, only followed the orders of Bobby Kotick himself.

In response to a Tweet about the famous interview with the head of Activision Blizzard, Tracy Kennedy, developer of Overwatch 2 replied: “Bobby, tell everyone about the random projects for OW1 you were pushing on us, the team was working overtime only to have them canceled and months of OW2 development wasted. Or how nearly entire teams have changed their minds and pointed the finger at you. Don’t be shy.”

According to her, Bobby Kotick would have caused the Overwatch 2 production team to lose months of work. She continues: “Oh wait, that’s right, you’re hiding behind scapegoats because you’re a coward. The whole world will remember you as a joke, and there’s nothing you can do to change that. . We beat you and we won. Byeee”.

In response to a comment asking what the projects in question were, Tracy Kennedy replied that she couldn’t legally talk about them. She is only allowed to talk about her working conditions. Many Internet users and colleagues supported her in her approach and the tweet went around the gaming world. Bobby Kotick therefore finds himself, once again, at the heart of a scandal.

While the releases of Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 have been pushed back to a distant date, it’s possible Microsoft’s potential takeover of Activision Blizzard will move things forward with new leadership. In the meantime, the Overwatch community continues to hope for the quick return of their favorite license.
