Available since May 9 on Netlix, the police comedy “Bodkin” has solved its mystery after many twists and turns! We will explain everything to you.
In Bodkin, Gilbert, Dove and Emmy form a group of podcasters who decide to investigate ancient mysterious disappearances in a picturesque Irish town that hides dark and terrible secrets.
At the end of the series, they finally manage to elucidate the mysterious disappearances that occurred in a small town of Bodkin. Throughout the seven episodes, a scandal is revealed, involving nuns who teach yoga, illegally smuggled eels, and cold-blooded murder.
Jolly Gilbert (Will Forte) first arrives in Ireland to do a light-hearted podcast about a traditional festival, but with the keen eye of Dove (Siobhán Cullen) and help from his ambitious assistant Emmy (Robyn Cara), he discovers the story of a true crime that could be the success of his life.
What happens at the end of Bodkin
In Bodkin’s final episode, Gilbert and Dove are locked in a prison cell. Gilbert is released and finds Emmy at their landlady Mrs. O’Shea, who reveals to him that it was she who set fire to the car of Sean, his son and their driver, to scare them.
Meanwhile, Dove makes a deal with Interpol agents to catch Seamus Gallagher, who was planning to illegally sell eels for a huge profit. The McArdles, a dangerous crime family with a bloody past with Seamus, set out to find him and brutally kill his dog after breaking into his home.

Sean seizes the eels, planning to sell them to Japanese yakuza against Seamus’s wishes. Gilbert reveals to Seamus what happened to the love of his life, Fiona, twenty-five years ago, telling him that she took refuge, after being attacked by the McArdles, at the Inish convent Mac Thiere with Mother Bernadette and a group of beekeeping nuns.
He also reveals that Sean is actually Seamus and Fiona’s son. Seamus tells Sean this and, in a twist, accidentally shoots his son’s thumb. Seamus then goes into villain mode and plants underground explosives so that they will detonate during the Samhain festival. You follow ?

Why did Seamus set off the explosives?
After discovering that Sean is his son, Seamus seems to change his mind about him – understand that he no longer wants to smash him to pieces after he leaves to sell the eels on his side – but Sean does not want to accept the truth. Arguably, he even breaks his father’s spirit by telling him he wants nothing more to do with him, which sends Seamus into a violent rampage.
Seamus is about to shoot Mrs. O’Shea, who has known the truth about him, Sean and Fiona for years, but Sean intervenes and loses his thumb in an accidental gunshot. Full of rage and guilt, Seamus discovers that Gilbert had been recording all the exchanges all this time for his podcast, which was the straw that broke the camel’s back. He then no longer has any scruples when he presses the detonator.

What happened to Teddy, Fiona and Malachy in the 1990s?
One of Bodkin’s biggest mysteries is what happened to Fiona. She was originally thought to have been found dead in the trunk of Sergeant Power’s car, but the body turned out to be that of Greta.
Greta was a member of the New Age group that Sergeant Power accidentally hit with his car and killed while covering the murder of Seamus’s brother Malachy by his son Teddy.
The McArdles were heading to Bodkin on the night of the Samhain festival, and Seamus wanted to make sure they left town. Teddy and Malachy argued over Fiona, and Teddy killed her with a brick. Fiona took refuge in the convent, where she died giving birth to Sean.

The True Meaning of Bodkin’s Ending
Bodkin concludes almost all of his arcs in his finale and Gilbert, Dove and Emmy leave town for good. It is unknown if Seamus fled after blowing up the truck full of eels, but it is implied that the McArdles eventually got their hands on him.
Gilbert finishes recording the podcast while reflecting on what he lost along the way, including his marriage. This leaves him uncertain about his future, although he managed to get his hands on a great story. So he throws his recorder into a river in the final moments of the series.

Will Forte as Gilbert
By throwing his audio recorder into the river, Gilbert seeks to redeem himself from his unethical and deceptive practice to get the end of the story from the beginning. Rather than profit from history, he leaves it where he thinks it should be: in the past.
As for Dove, she also moves away from her life as an investigative journalist, returning to the convent of her childhood to reconnect with herself and gain some perspective from a life spent in a world of crime and murder .
And Emmy finds the confidence to get a promotion at the Guardian, while Sean proves his loyalty to Mrs. O’Shea, who is not his real mother, but has always behaved like one in Bodkin.
