Two people were indicted and placed in pre-trial detention after a body was found in a trunk in Moselle. Firefighters intervened on Wednesday evening in a house for a “significant release of smoke” before making this macabre discovery.

Two people were indicted and placed in pre-trial detention after the discovery of a body in a trunk during an intervention by firefighters in a house in Gondrexange in Moselle, AFP learned on Saturday from the Metz prosecutor’s office. These are the occupant of the house, a 49-year-old man who was taken into police custody on Thursday, and his partner, who was also taken into police custody on Friday.

During their interrogation, which ended late Saturday morning, they explained little about the facts with which they are accused. A judicial investigation was opened on the counts of “murder, concealment of the corpse of a person victim of a murder and attack on the integrity of a corpse”, specified the deputy public prosecutor of Metz Thomas Bernard.

The body is still not identified

They were indicted on the same charges. An autopsy carried out Friday on the body found in the trunk also indicated that the victim had had “a violent death, not accidental”, specifies the magistrate. The body has still not been identified, but it appears, according to initial information, that it is that of a “young adult male”.

Firefighters intervened on Wednesday evening in a house for a “significant release of smoke”, indicated the public prosecutor in Metz Yves Badorc. They then discovered a trunk containing a body.
