This year has not left its mark on our celebrities either. In an emotional Instagram post, the actress Lena Dunham is honest as usual and tells of the increasing pressure during the corona pandemic.

After looking at your Instagram feed in March and April, it was easy to get the feeling of not being enough or doing enough. Some baked vegan, sugar-free banana bread, others started their day with a yoga session and a few very hard-working people trained several times a day for their summer body and of course proudly shared this with their followers. The "We make the best of Corona" culture also put pressure on Lena Dunham, who is actually known for her self-confidence.

Back to old patterns during lockdown

While the actress and producer suffered from her body for a long time as a teenager, as a grown woman she repeatedly attracted media attention with her refreshing openness and self-confidence. But even the most stable self-confidence can crumble. "Everywhere I read headlines like 'This is how I lost weight' and 'The right diet is everything'. It used to just bounce off me. But this time it's different. Not because I feel like my body should look different , but because it has become another item on the ever-long Corona to-do list. I have the feeling that I am not starting enough with my time, "she explains on social media.

Dunham openly admits that she fell into old patterns of self-pity during Corona.

"After all these years of self-love, why do I still feel that losing weight should be part of my to-do list when I could just learn Spanish?"

The 34-year-old emphasizes that she has always had a problem with the fact that imperfect bodies are often associated with laziness.

Fans feel me her

At the end of her emotional post, the author calls on her community to share her experience with the lockdown. And the reactions are not long in coming. Thousands of users tell in the comments about their ups and downs during the quarantine. Many feel understood by the actress and thank her for her openness and vulnerability. "You are such a special person. Thank you for your honesty. Mental health is taken seriously – if we start talking openly about our problems," writes one user.

With her series "Girls" to a body activist

Lena's breakthrough came mainly because she stood by her body. Her HBO show "Girls" was a massive hit, partly because it showed all body types as they were, did not artificially embellish anything and did not mince words. With her positive message and her undisguised manner, she became a role model for many women.
