(CercleFinance.com) – Boeing announced on Tuesday that it plans to purchase some 9.4 million gallons (more than 35,000 tonnes) of sustainable fuel (SAF) this year, a figure up 60% compared to 2023 .
The aircraft manufacturer specifies that this acquisition – its largest to date in the field – will enable it to reduce its carbon emissions by notably fueling its Boeing ecoDemonstrator flight test program.
This eco-fuel must be composed of 30% biomass, such as fats and oils, and 70% conventional kerosene, Boeing explains in a press release.
The group plans in particular to call on Epic Fuels, a subsidiary of Signature Aviation, Neste and Avfuel in order to obtain supplies.
He estimates that SAF now represents 20% of his fuel consumption.
