Boeing: Virgin Australia orders six more 737 MAX 8s

(CercleFinance.com) – Virgin Australia announced on Friday that it had ordered six additional 737 MAX 8s from Boeing, a contract estimated at more than $700 million at list prices.

Alistair Hartley, Virgin Australia’s chief strategy officer, said the order comes as the Australian airline seeks to expand and renew its fleet to meet the current high demand in the airline industry.

The carrier specifies that the order, which is scheduled for delivery during the second half of 2024, will bring the number of MAX-8 aircraft it has ordered to a total of 14.

The MAX-8, which is more economical in kerosene, reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 15%, while being 40% less noisy than existing 737s.
