A night of partying with Michael Jackson’s monkey Bubbles in Tokyo almost led to the band Bon Jovi being kicked out.

Jon Bon Jovi (62), frontman of the rock band Bon Jovi, has probably experienced some crazy moments in his almost 40-year career. Like the “It’s My Life” interpreter now during a performance on the US late night show “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” reveals, he has a very special memory of one experience: a night of partying with Michael Jackson’s (1958-2009) chimpanzee Bubbles in 1987.

According to frontman Bon Jovi, the band met the “King of Pop” during a stay in the Japanese capital Tokyo. He and bandmate Richie Sambora (64) were invited to Jackson’s accommodation. “Everyone wanted to meet Michael Jackson. Richie and I had the opportunity to go up to his room, and we went into his hotel room – which was complete with mirrors so he could dance – and they actually removed a wall between the rooms “, recalls the 62-year-old in an interview with host Jimmy Kimmel (56).

“We celebrated with Bubbles”

Bon Jovi also revealed that after speaking to Jackson at the time, he had the impression that they had become “friends” so they invited the “King of Pop” to their floor of the hotel.

“Unfortunately he didn’t come, but he sent the chimpanzee Bubbles as his representative,” remembers Bon Jovi: “Bubbles came down and wreaked havoc. Bubbles celebrated like a rock star.” The chimpanzee “jumped onto the bed” and “put on a show.” “We celebrated with Bubbles,” said the singer. And as is usual for real rock stars, the hotel management then threatened the band with throwing them out of the hotel.

Documentary about Bon Jovi band history will be released at the end of April

Bon Jovi leaves it open whether there will be scenes from her party night with Jackson’s chimpanzee Bubbles in the upcoming documentary about the American rock band. The four-part documentary “Thank you, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story” is scheduled to appear on the US streaming service Hulu on April 26th. The documentary about the band’s history is intended to provide insights behind the scenes of the musicians’ rise to fame.
