The baccalaureate is in your pocket and to congratulate all the graduates, banks, town halls or communities have planned nice gifts that you certainly did not expect. We tell you everything!

This Tuesday, July 5, 2022, the long-awaited day has finally arrived for the 523,000 high school students who passed the baccalaureate This year. In the morning, the results fell in the different French regions. If this day is often a real source of stress for young students, as for their parents, this day marks in any case a milestone in studies.

The work and diligence deployed throughout the high school years are finally rewarded. In fact, baccalaureate holders who have obtained their diploma with honors (fairly well, well or very well) can qualify for different aids and rewards, from local authorities or banks. But how much can a mention in the baccalaureate bring you? What bonuses or rewards can you receive? We enlighten you!

Merit aid for scholarship recipients, how does it work?

Each year, for the most deserving high school scholarship students, a mention in the baccalaureate can pay off big. Indeed, in addition to the grant based on social criteria, the student can receive merit aid. It is mainly intended for baccalaureate holders with modest incomes who wish to continue their studies.
In order to benefit from this aid, students are required to complete 3 conditions :

  • complete and submit a student social file (ESD)
  • have obtained a honors” at the baccalaureate
  • integrate a higher establishment at the start of the 2022 academic year.

If the student social file (DSE) is accepted, no additional steps are necessary. The rectorate sends directly to the Crous the list of graduates who have obtained a “very good” mention. For its part, the Crous will be responsible for informing the beneficiary of merit aid, the amount of which is €900.

A little extra: some business or engineering schools also offer baccalaureate holders, a reduction in their tuition fees (from 20 to 50%) the first year, in the case of “good” or “very good” grades.

A reward based on where you live?

According to their municipality, department or region of residence, baccalaureate holders who have obtained a mention can apply for merit-based scholarships. Indeed, some town halls and general councils also reward young graduates. This is the case, for example, for the Ile-de-France region, which offers a merit scholarship of 1000 euros to all its baccalaureate holders educated in the region and with a “very good” mention, the same thing for the Rhône Alpes region which offers 500 €.

Cities are also trying to motivate high school students with bonuses 150 euros in Nice or 800 euros in Montrouge in Hauts-de-Seine. If it’s not about money, other communities generously offer vouchers or gift certificates to buy computer equipment, take language courses, etc. Do not hesitate to ask your town hall, departmental or regional council to find out if you can benefit from one of these many advantages.

Banks also give bonuses

Like every year, the banks are also playing the bonus game to reward the best students in order to welcome them. If some already offer very attractive welcome offers for all customers. Many banks have communicated on a bonus offer for the baccalaureate in 2022.

To mark the occasion, Banque CIC offers its offer of 160 euros for a “very good” mention, 80 euros for a “good” mention and 40 euros for a “fairly good” mention. The premium is paid into a savings account opened in the bank upon presentation of the transcript. As a bonus, the CIC also offers an account and a free card for 1 year.

And for bachelors without honors, the Company and BNP Paribas have thought of everything: 80 euros offered to all baccalaureate holders, regardless of their results from the opening of an account until September 1st.
Ask your bank for more information about these bonuses.
