Bordeaux: two men suspected of theft and violence against the elderly summoned to court

Last Thursday, two elderly people were robbed and assaulted. One of the two suspects, arrested and summoned to court on Monday, had broken his electronic bracelet at the time of the events.

Two octogenarians were attacked, abused and robbed last Thursday between 6:30 and 10 a.m. around Saint-Laurent-Médoc, Soussan and Listrac-Médoc. Arrested at the wheel of a stolen car, two men suspected of being the perpetrators were summoned to appear immediately at the Bordeaux court on Monday. In addition to the theft and concealment of a Renault vehicle, as well as the bag it contained, they are accused of having beaten its 89-year-old owner with his own cane. Two days of ITT were prescribed for this man who, crippled and ill, filed a civil action asking to be represented by his son.

And this is not the only misdeed that these two individuals, aged 30 and 31, allegedly committed that morning. With the same violence, an elderly lady was pushed to the ground and fell as her purse was stolen. An assault which resulted in ten days of ITT for the victim.

The main suspect, a repeat offender from Girondin who has 20 entries in his record (including two convictions) refused to speak during the investigation. Having exercised his right to stay the trial to prepare his defence, he was also absent during the hearing because he had opposed his removal from Bordeaux Gradignan prison, where he was placed in provisional detention by the judge of freedoms, Saturday. A measure motivated by the situation of this individual: on probation for a previous conviction, he was also in a state of escape at the time of the events.

The majority of the offenses with which he is charged being linked to the absent main defendant, the trial was postponed to March 21 at the request of the prosecution despite his desire to be presently tried.
