After his release from prison, Boris Becker dares to make a fresh start. As the tennis star himself confirms, he now lives in Italy with his partner Lilian. And maybe the wedding bells will ring soon.

Hard times lie behind Boris Becker, 55. In December, the tennis legend was released from prison in England after around seven months in prison for delaying bankruptcy and was deported to his home country of Germany. However, he did not stay there for long. As he now revealed at the “OMR” digital fair in Hamburg, he has relocated to Italy – with his partner Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro, 33, of course.

Boris Becker: “I moved to Italy”

“There’s all sorts of speculation in public. Where’s he going? Does he sleep with friends? No, I moved to Italy,” said the 55-year-old, according to “Stern” in an interview on stage. His girlfriend is Italian and wanted to live back home, he explained.

Then Becker surprised with an ambiguous statement. “My mother used to say the clever phrase ‘Happy wife, happy life’ and I must have misunderstood it all these years, but I’ll do better now,” said the ex -Athlete laughing, alluding to his two failed marriages with Barbara Becker, 56, and Lilly Becker, 46. Happy wife? Is he daring to walk in front of the altar for the third time? The father of four added that he had learned to listen. Lilian should be happy to hear that. Becker seems to like it in the new adopted country. “The Italians like my lifestyle,” he jokes.

“Anyone can fall…”

Apparently, Boris Becker has had a lot of time to think over the past few months, because today he is not only vowing improvement when it comes to listening. “If you don’t feel remorse, if you don’t treat yourself harshly, then you haven’t learned anything. That’s what prison teaches you. You’re alone in the cell for 18 to 20 hours,” he explains, showing understanding: ” I can’t blame anyone, even if I was misinformed.” His motto: “Everyone can fall, but the secret is to get back up.”

He was “out of the woods,” he emphasizes, and his partners stood by him even during his stay in prison. “And they are now waiting for me so that I can go back to the Bütt. Whether it’s the TV stations or the sponsors,” the once-celebrated tennis star looks positively to his future. And who knows, maybe a wedding is already planned for them.
