Elias’ father arrived in court in London on Monday March 21 to stand trial on several charges in connection with his personal bankruptcy filed in 2017.
Boris Becker is accused of fraud linked to his bankruptcy by the British justice since the 54-year-old German would not have respected his obligations to disclose information, in particular banking, which he strongly contests. When he arrived at the courthouse on March 21, he nonetheless could count on the support of his new companion, the beautiful Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro. The two lovers arrived hand in hand, showing a close-knit couple facing the legal problems of the former tennis star.
The former tennis player faces up to 7 years in prison
Boris Becker is accused of having concealed several properties and approximately 2.1 million euros. According to the prosecutor at Southwark Court in London, the former athlete “acted dishonestly with respect to his possessions, which he variously concealed, or made available, to those responsible for identifying the assets”. For the facts with which he is charged, German faces up to 7 years in prison. Another element of this affair which raises questions about justice is the fact thathe would have “deliberately” hid 9 of his old trophies while they would have wiped off some of his debts in 2017. Among the trophies sought are two of his three Wimbledon cups, an Australian Open trophy and his Olympic gold medal won in 1992. The prosecutor indicated that the ex of Lilly Becker “don’t know where these goods are”.
But the accusations do not stop there since Boris Becker is also suspected of using his professional account as a “piggy bank” for luxury purchases and school fees for her children. In all, the former champion is on trial for 24 charges relating to his bankruptcy in 2017. He is also suspected of having concealed 1.13 million euros from the sale of a Mercedes dealership he owned in Germany.
