Prison sentence for Boris Becker. The tennis legend has been jailed for two years and six months for delaying bankruptcy. The judge found harsh words for Becker in her verdict.

Stiff with shock and blushing, Boris Becker, 54, is said to have taken the verdict at Southwark Crown Court yesterday, Friday 29 April 2022. According to “Bild”, he should then have tied the laces of his sneakers, got up and left the building through the side entrance with his bag.

Boris Becker was then taken to a security wing at Southwark Crown Court before a white van took him, most likely, to Wandsworth Prison. Allegedly, Becker was no longer allowed to say goodbye to his girlfriend and son after the verdict was pronounced.

Boris Becker: the judge recognized no remorse

Judge Deborah Taylor, who was previously considered tough, justified her decision by saying that Becker had shown no remorse in the process of delaying bankruptcy and had not acknowledged guilt. “I recognize that the procedure was humiliating for you, but you have shown no humility,” she is said to have said, according to “SWR”.

Defense attorney Jonathan Laidlaw wanted a suspended sentence

Boris Becker’s defense attorney Jonathan Laidlaw is said to have previously tried to convince the judge of a milder sentence by hoping for sympathy for Becker. The process destroyed his career and his life. “He literally has nothing,” he is said to have said, even pointing out that his client couldn’t handle money and therefore relied too much on his advisors. Prosecutor Rebecca Chalkley, who, according to the “RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland”, is said to have accused Becker of premeditation and dishonesty, was more popular with the judge.

Boris Becker must now start a prison sentence of 2 years and 6 months immediately. With good behavior, he can serve half the sentence on probation.
