KYIV (Reuters) – British Prime Minister Boris Johnson traveled to Kyiv on Friday, where he met Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky where he offered to train up to 10,000 troops in nearly four months.

This new trip by the head of the British government to Ukraine comes the day after the arrival of the leaders of France, Germany, Italy and Romania.

Boris Johnson, whom Volodimir Zelensky has described as a “great friend” of Ukraine, posted a photo of himself with the Ukrainian president on social media along with the words “Mr. President, Volodimir, it’s good to be again in Kyiv”.

The two leaders discussed deliveries of arms and air defense systems as well as economic support for Ukraine and sanctions against Russia, said Andriy Yermark, chief of staff of Volodimir Zelensky.

“My visit today, at the heart of this war, aims to send a clear and simple message to the Ukrainian people: the United Kingdom is with you, and we will be with you until you win,” said Boris Johnson.
