Bosses are afraid that AI will replace them, but they use it anyway

There is no shortage of concrete examples, such as this French company which is letting go of 217 employees in favor of an automated system. Among our British neighbors, there is even talk of an apocalypse which would threaten 8 million jobs.

We also know that almost all professions are likely to make room for AI, but we talk surprisingly little about leadership positions. Would their position protect them from these concerns? Not at all according to a study conducted by AND Digital among 600 bosses from the United Kingdom. Like their employees, many of them are wary of the rise of artificial intelligence, even if they do not hesitate to take advantage of the advantages it provides.

Fear of being replaced by AI does not stop business leaders from using it

In total, 43% of CEOs surveyed believe that AI threatens their job. Almost as many believe that their employees are not ready to adopt it (44%). A little more than a third of the leaders have a radical position since34% want to ban its use within their society. But according to the old adage of “do as I say, don’t do as I do”, 45% of them use AI to complete tasks for them.

The respondents do not necessarily assume this: the report indicates that they “often get the job done [de l’IA] for theirs“. It therefore seems that they are adopting this technology partly in secret, which is all the more paradoxical when we see that some managers do not hesitate to boast of having replaced their employees with AI. As for knowing if you will soon have to send your request for a raise to ChatGPT, it is too early to say.
