Bosses tough – Salzburg refuses to release players

FC Red Bull Salzburg is heading towards an autumn of constant stress. The master wants to be prepared for this. The club bosses did not approve a loan from goalkeeper Nico Mantl because they rely on the German and do not want to do without his services.

Before the start of the season, coach Matthias Jaissle called for an open race for a spot in the Bulls’ goal. With Nico Mantl, however, the Bulls have a second goalkeeper who makes claims as number one in the Salzburg goal. The club bosses, who think highly of the German U21 team goalkeeper and therefore don’t want to let him go, know that too. A packed autumn program awaits the doubles winner with numerous English weeks in which the players are under enormous strain. Therefore, the Bulls are building on a large squad to be prepared for the hardships. In the case of Nico Mantl, this means that those responsible around sports director Christoph Freund and trainer Matthias Jaissle took tough action. Several clubs wanted to sign Mantl. So there was concrete interest in several clubs in the last few days and weeks, but this was put a stop to. Arminia BIelefeld, St. Pauli and also KRC Genk would have loved to see Mantl in their ranks and tied to them on loan. However, Salzburg relies on the services of the 22-year-old and trusts him to become the first-choice goalkeeper for the subscription champions of the Austrian Bundesliga in the foreseeable future. Mantl needs more playing time than in the previous season, when he was only used in six competitive games, and was last looking the conversation with the decision-makers. They in turn made it clear to him that they would continue to build on him and therefore did not want to give him up under any circumstances.
