Bouches-du-Rhône: the explosion of a building kills at least one person


During the night from Sunday to Monday, an explosion then a fire took place in a building in the town of Allauch in the Bouches-du-Rhône. A 50-year-old man died in the tragedy according to firefighters.

The explosion would have occurred around 4:30 am in the rue du Pilon in Allauch, a town bordering Marseille in the Bouches-du-Rhône. On Twitter, the department’s firefighters shared the drama by taking stock of the fire.

Thus, a 50-year-old man is said to have died and 9 other people, residents of the building, were injured, three of them slightly. The two neighboring buildings were evacuated as a precaution causing the displacement of 14 additional people.

23 firefighters were dispatched to the scene to control the fire which started after an explosion on the first floor of the building. The causes of the explosion are still unknown.
