Laying down a small fortune for a certain cell phone number – hard to imagine for “average Joes”. In the past few decades, however, some super-rich have laid down sometimes unbelievable sums for certain sequences of numbers.
A few years ago, an anonymous resident of the Arab Emirate of Qatar paid the equivalent of more than two million euros for his new cell phone number – but the money also went to a good cause.
However, the Qatari is not an isolated case either: a man from Dubai also paid a six-digit sum for his cell phone number. The records for the most expensive cell phone numbers in Germany are significantly lower.
