PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–Bouygues announced on Tuesday that it has finalized the acquisition from Engie of the multi-technical services specialist Equans for 6.1 billion euros.
After taking into account the company’s net debt, the impact on the net debt of the diversified conglomerate amounts to 6.5 billion euros – of which 130 million euros paid to Engie last May at the signing of the acquisition contract.
In its press release, Bouygues recalled that this operation would enable it to become a “world leader in the multi-technical services market whose activities are at the heart of environmental, industrial and digital transitions”. “In particular, they offer solutions for optimizing energy consumption, which is all the more strategic in the current context,” added Bouygues.
Made up of Equans and the Energies & Services division of Bouygues, the new group will represent around 17 billion euros in turnover and will bring together around 97,000 employees in more than 20 countries.
Engie for its part indicated that this operation would reduce its net debt by around 7.1 billion euros. “The completion of this sale is a major step in the refocusing of Engie and allows the group to invest in the growth of its key businesses to continue to accelerate the energy transition”, commented Catherine MacGregor, the general manager of the supplier. gas and electricity in a separate press release.
