.

Wishing to enhance its customers’ TV experience, Bouygues Telecom unveiled a brand new Bbox 4K HDR decoder on Monday 28 February, which will now be exclusive to the Bbox ultym Fiber offer, the only offer to offer consumers the Wi-Fi modem. So what is hiding under the new Bbox 4K HDR decoder, carried by Android TV and with a slightly more modern design and more in line with the Wi-Fi 6 box? First, Bouygues Telecom insists on its color screen, which optimizes the display of the time, the current program and the recording of the channel. It also allows you to view notifications of scheduled recordings.

The Bbox 4K HDR decoder has a wireless connection to the Bbox Wi-Fi 6 which can be practical if you do not want or cannot connect it with an Ethernet cable. Similarly, an infrared Bluetooth remote control makes it easier to access its programs. It embeds the “Hey Google” voice search functionality.

In more detail, the decoder has two USB ports, an HDMI port and an S/PDIF output. As such, it offers customers DTS sound compatible with Dolby Digital+ (5.1 or more). On the image side, you guessed it, 4K HDR is offered. Inside, there is a Marvell BG4-CT processor with 3 GB of RAM. Internal memory climbs to 8 GB.

Salto offered for six months, strong argument or not?

The Bbox 4K HDR decoder benefits from the integrated Chromecast and its TV recorder offers a recording capacity of 100 hours of program, directly in the Cloud. Bouygues Telecom specifies that it is possible to benefit from an extension of 200 additional hours, but as a paying option. Android TV requires, the decoder offers access to the Google Play Store, to download various applications and customize its uses as it pleases.

Another novelty of this Bbox offer: the French entertainment platform Salto! If it is not certain that this argument makes a monster difference in the eyes of consumers, Salto’s figures are not good, the service is offered for six months with three simultaneous users. Beyond these six months (it will be possible to terminate the subscription before the term), the platform switches to the price of 6.99 euros per month, still without obligation. Very important clarification: if the new decoder is limited to the Bbox ultym Fiber offer only, the option offered then payable Salto is offered for Bbox ultym Fiber, ADSL/xDSL and Smart TV customers

Regarding prices, the new Bbox ultym Fiber offer will cost you 28.99 euros/month for 12 months, then 46.99 euros/month, box rental included. The ADSL version is at the same price, without the new decoder, while the Bbox ultym Smart TV offer costs 46.99 euros/month, this largely financing the Samsung television set that accompanies it.
