Box office France: The Batman still in the lead, Goliath in ambush

Goliath with Pierre Niney starts strong but without destabilizing The Batman. The film with Robert Pattinson remains firmly in first position, followed by three French films, two of which are new. Uncharted, 5th, is at 2 million admissions.

BOX-OFFICE FROM MARCH 9 TO 15, 2022: THE TOP 10

The Batman retains its leading position. Even if the film with Robert Pattinson lost half of its viewers in the second week, it remained at a very high level, with more than 600,000 admissions, and a total of nearly 1.8 million admissions. It should soon exceed Uncharted which was so far the number 1 of the year at the box office in France. Uncharted with Tom Holland, which drops to 5th place in the rankings, has just exceeded 2 million admissions.

Between The Batman and Uncharted, there are three French films, including two new ones: Goliath got off to a solid start, close to 270,000 admissions, a score in line with Boite noire, already with Pierre Niney. This film had been one of the surprise successes of 2021, it had made more than 1.1 million admissions at the end of the race.

Retirement home with Kev Adams remains in 3rd place: it only loses 21% of its admissions and attracts 240,000 additional spectators, ie nearly 1.6 million in total. Another French comedy exceeds 200,000 admissions in the first week: Building permit with Eric Fraticelli and Didier Bourdon. It’s more complicated for the other French comedies released last Wednesday: Murder Party and Kung Fu Zohra are both out of the top 10.

Maigret with Gérard Depardieu is approaching 500,000 admissions. The surprise of the week comes from the movie The Oak which gained 18% admissions: it recorded 58,000 admissions, passing Another world with Vincent Lindon, and Belfast by Kenneth Branagh.

Finally, note that Nightmare Alley by Guillermo del Toro has just crossed 400,000 admissions after 8 weeks in theaters. As for Illusions Perdues, which came out after its triumph at the Césars, it now has a total of 950,000 admissions. The million is not very far away!

Remember that the Printemps du Cinéma starts this Sunday: for 3 days, all cinema sessions are 4 euros, which could boost attendance, in addition to the lifting of the vaccination pass.
