Leader last week, “Wish – Asha and the Good Star” retains its throne at the French box office. Ahead of “Migration”, the latest from Illumination studios, which is ahead of Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon”.

Disney’s lucky star continues to shine at the top of the French box office. wish retains the lead for the second consecutive week and narrowly crosses the milestone of one million spectators in France. And this while the imminent end of year holidays could allow him to stock up until the beginning of January.
Enough to get the 3,366,391 of Encanto, the latest Christmas Disney to hit our cinemas? On paper, it’s not impossible, because Wish is currently doing better after its first two weeks of operation.
While The Boy and the Heron gave Hayao Miyazaki his record in France, animation is also celebrating thanks to Migration, best new release of the week which comes directly into second position. Its takeoff is certainly less meteoric than that of Super Mario Bros., the previous opus from Illumination studios, which made six times more for its debut. But this funny duck story does not benefit from such a strong brand.
And, here again, the school holidays could allow him to increase his score over time, and even ruffle Wish’s feathers. In this regard, next week’s box office results will allow us to identify a trend, and see who has the best chance of emerging victorious from this lively duel.
Already detonated last week, Napoleon fell one more place but remained on the podium. And, with a cumulative total which now stands at 1,409,689 entries, it enters the top 10 of Ridley Scott’s biggest hits in France. Ahead of Alien Covenant but behind Exodus, which it should nevertheless surpass in the days to come, even if it has lost 41% of its attendance compared to the period from November 29 to December 5.
Among the continuation films, the most beautiful continuations are to be credited to Perfect Days (-29%) then The braid And Hunger Games (-31%), who remain at the foot of the podium. And that’s no small feat for the prequel to the saga led by Jennifer Lawrence, still in the Top 5 even though it was released for almost a month.
Finally, four new releases are placed in the weekly ranking. But not everyone has had the success of Migration. Respectively sixth, seventh and eighth, Suddenly alone, Merry Christmas And Building 5 were probably hoping for better for their debut. Especially on the side of Ladj Ly, which started almost seven times worse than Les Misérables, released on a fairly similar number of copies (490 compared to 405 here).
