Box office: Thor 4 stronger than Doctor Strange 2 on the 1st day France?

With 343,235 admissions for its first day of operation (including 133,235 made during previews), “Thor – Love and Thunder” signs the second best start of 2022 in France. Ahead of “Jurassic World 3” and “Doctor Strange 2”.

Lightning start for Thor – Love and Thunder in French theaters! In one day, the fourth opus in the Marvel saga carried by Chris Hemsworth attracted 343,235 spectators. An impressive figure that should, of course, be put into perspective, since it includes the 133,235 entries for the previews on July 8. But it allows Taika Waititi’s film to take the lead in July 13 releases and sign the second best start of 2022.

If this new Thor finishes far from Minions 2, which had taken advantage of the last day of the Film Festival to fill up (603,500 admissions, preview included), it is ahead of Jurassic World 3, Doctor Strange 2 (which had however its entire score on the day of its release) or Top Gun: Maverick. Three feature films which have since passed the milestone of 3 million spectators. Even more in the case of Tom Cruise, who exceeded 5.

Not content with being the best start to the Thor saga in France, Love and Thunder could thus become its biggest success, if it follows the same course as the blockbusters mentioned above. For the moment, Ragnarok holds the record, with 2,523,936 spectators at the end of the race. With a public holiday the day after its release, the summer holidays and an absence of a major competitor, the new opus has everything to achieve this, and the results of its first week of operation will tell us a little more.
