Boxing: This trend sport makes you slim and fit

Formerly a pure men's sport, boxing is so popular today that many gyms offer extra boxing courses. The sweaty workout is often even advertised as real fitness boxing. And the trend sport visitors are now mostly female!

Why is boxing such an effective workout?

There are several good reasons to put on your boxing gloves more often:

Boxing trains the whole body

Boxing stands out from many other sports – because if you do it right, the whole body is trained. The reason: Not only are our arms busy with blows, our legs also have something to do. After all, we often have to bend and step back to duck away under attack. The back and shoulders are strengthened and the hip also works, because we draw the strength for particularly strong blows.

Boxing burns a lot of calories

Studies show, that we can burn up to 800 calories in one hour of boxing – more than any other sport! It also depends on the way you box: Half an hour of boxing in the ring burns around 400 calories, training with a punching bag still 200 calories. Sparring with a partner melts 300 calories in the same time.

Boxing improves your eye-hand coordination

When boxing, especially when training with sparring gloves, we have to focus on what we see and at the same time adapt our movements to it. Our brains have to work hard to do both – this strengthens our eye-hand coordination.

Boxing helps you reduce stress

Let's face it – every now and then we just feel the need to hit something. Not only does this distract, it also relaxes tense muscles due to stress. In addition, several studies show that boxing makes you happy. The scientific explanation: If we hit a punching bag, more endorphins are released. These are considered happiness hormones and raise our spirits.
