Bpost: More cautious in the face of the economic context

(CercleFinance.com) – The title bpost fell by 10% on Friday afternoon, investors showing themselves disappointed by the forecasts communicated by the Belgian postal operator on the occasion of the publication of its latest quarterly results.

In a press release issued yesterday evening, bpostgroup said it had started the year ‘in line with forecasts’, but warned that its annual financial performance could be affected by the unfavorable macroeconomic environment.

The group reported a gross operating surplus (Ebit) of 90 million euros over the first three months of the year, against 112.3 million euros a year earlier.

The group’s total operating income amounted to 1,038.5 million euros, an increase of 1.8% compared to the same
period last year.

In its press release, bpost indicates that these performances are in line with the Ebit forecasts published for the whole of 2022, i.e. between 280 and 310 million euros.

However, the group warns that the disturbances observed recently on its markets, particularly in terms of inflation, constitute a source of uncertainty likely to present a risk of a drop in its forecasts of up to 40 million euros. .

With today’s decline, the value is now down 28.8% since the start of the year.
