Brake defective! – Public bus scraped 100 meters along the embankment

A bus driver on the Ellbogener Landesstraße reacted with presence of mind on Monday: Because he was apparently no longer able to brake, he drove the bus against an embankment and brought it to a standstill after 100 meters.

On Monday at 4:22 p.m., a 52-year-old driver of a public bus was driving on the Ellbogener Landesstraße (L 38) from Ellbogen towards Patsch. According to his own statements, he was no longer able to brake the bus in the area of ​​road kilometer 11,885, which is why he steered the vehicle against the embankment there on the right side of the road and was able to bring it to a standstill after a distance of approx. 100 meters in the area of ​​a bus reversal loop in Patsch.Three Passengers experienced maneuvers. Of the three passengers who were on the bus at the time, a 17-year-old Austrian woman was injured to an unspecified degree as a result of the accident. She went independently to the Innsbruck Clinic for medical care. No other people were injured. The alcohol test carried out on the driver involved in the accident was negative. There was significant damage to the accident vehicle. The exact course of the accident and the cause of the accident are still the subject of ongoing investigations. Blue light organizations alerted Two patrols from PI Lans and one each from PI Steinach-Wipptal as well as the state traffic department, the FFW Patsch (3 vehicles with a total of 27 personnel) and an ambulance were deployed.
