Braun enters the friction blender market with the JB9040

That was a few years ago now. The Riviera & Bar Boss revolutionized heated blenders by using the friction of the high-speed rotating blade rather than conventional resistors to heat food. Since this precursor, many brands have tried this method, with varying degrees of success. Braun has also entered this market with the JB9040, a blender with a power of 1600 W, which should therefore make it possible to prepare a hot soup from cold food, without heating resistance. Thanks to this supercharged motor, the knife equipped with four blades rotates at a speed of 45,000 rpm.

Although mixing aids seem a bit redundant at such speeds, Braun chose a triangular-shaped bowl to make mixing easier. Thanks to this particular architecture, the food should meet the blades easily to be pulverized. The container reaches a volume of 3 l and it is made of plastic, a material lighter than glass certainly, but also more sensitive to scratches. It does not seem possible to disassemble it for easy maintenance. Braun also provides a Mix&Go type bottle: you just need to replace the knife with a lid at the end of mixing to take a freshly prepared smoothie with you.

The Braun JB9040 can be used in manual mode and automatic mode. In the first case, the notched wheel is used to select one of the 10 blade rotation speeds. Then press the Start/stop button to start (or stop) mixing. A Pulse function is also provided. In automatic mode, you choose a program from the six offered: smoothie, hot soup, chop, crushed ice, frozen dessert, spread.

In addition, the Braun JB9040 allows you to choose the fineness of mixing the preparation (coarse, medium, fine) thanks to iTexture Control technology. After choosing the program, all that remains is to select the level of fineness of the mixture. Peanut butter lovers will therefore be able to vary the pleasures and prepare a smooth paste or with pieces.

The Power Blender JB 9040 is already available and can be purchased for less than €250.
