One year after its launch, Brave Search is finally done with its beta version. the search engine launches into the deep end with a new feature: Goggles.

A feature that offers more customization for results with dedicated filters.

The Goggles feature finally comes out of beta

Brave Search’s Goggles feature is finally in stable phase. Available through a single dedicated tab, the feature allows users to customize results by, for example, applying filters and rules to change the order of search page results. It is thus possible to prioritize articles from smaller publications such as blogs rather than those from the main media. A system which should therefore limit the potential biases of the algorithm while allowing Internet users to obtain results that correspond to them more, by excluding certain sources or favoring others.

For its official launch, Goggles offers eight filters: highlighting tech blogs, popular articles within the hacker community, no Pinterest, content related to the programming language Rust, no copycat, removal of the 1000 most popular sites. seen, left or right sources. A non-exhaustive list, since other options can be created by the community and then hosted on GitLab, or GitHub.

Exponential growth for Brave Search

Today we’re launching Goggles to change the way search is traditionally done and finally give users control. The world is too diverse for just one ranking, so Goggles opens up ranking and search filtering seamlessly for everyone to use, share and improve. explains Joseph M. Pujol, head of research at Brave.

Brave also announces that its search engine now totals more than 2.5 billion searches in just one year. The guaranteed non-tracking alternative solution has in fact increased from 8.1 to 411.7 million requests per month, representing growth of more than 5,000% over the year. By way of comparison, it took DuckDuckGo four years to reach this number.
