C 63 comes – but without V8
But before that, other things are on the agenda. The new C 63 will be rolling out to dealers in mid-2023. The model is not only a break with tradition in the eyes of its fans, but also from AMG’s point of view. The mid-size sedan is undergoing an about-face. So far, a V8 has been roaring under the hood, terrific in sound and performance, initially with a displacement of 6.3 liters, in the last form as a 510 hp four-liter biturbo. That’s exactly what AMG no longer wants to afford, at least not in this segment, knowing full well that this engine would still be in the C-Class at the end of the decade – inconsistent with the sustainability strategy.
