The acquisition of Snips, the French startup specializing in voice control, is finally bearing fruit. Sonos has just formalized its own voice assistant: Sonos Voice Control. Its mission, to optimize the audio experience of its connected speakers and soundbars.

And to respond to its users, Sonos has hired one of the actors of breaking Bad and of The Mandalorian.

Accuracy, speed and confidentiality. This is the motto of Sonos Voice Control, the voice assistant of the American brand. Unlike its ultra-versatile competitors, it’s only meant to be a pure voice control system. It will therefore be above all a second way to interact with the Sonos product ecosystem, in addition to the company’s application on smartphones.

More concretely, users will be able to submit different requests to their fleet of devices equipped with a microphone system. For example, they can request a specific song from a playlist or album, manage playback and volume options, or add songs to their library on music streaming services like Amazon Music, Deezer or Apple Music. Sonos promises a very responsive and above all ultra secure system to ensure that personal data does not leak.

And to serve its users, Sonos has called on the services of Giancarlo Esposito. The actor of breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, The Mandalorian and far cry 6 was chosen to embody the voice assistant of Sonos. For the English version at least, the mystery remains for the French version. Sonos Voice Control will be available from 1er June 2022 in the United States and later in the year in France.
