Brian May: The Queen guitarist had a heart attack

There are new details on Brian May's (72) story of suffering. As the Queen guitarist now revealed in a video on Instagram, he recently had a heart attack. According to May, the infarction was the result of a pinched nerve that he contracted in a garden accident in early May. "I was diagnosed with a torn gluteus maximus and I never thought that some people out there would find it amusing to have butt pain," the musician says in the video. Because of his gluteal muscle injury and severe pain, he even had to go to the hospital.

Because the complaints did not subside, Brian May was examined again. On the MRI, the doctors were able to identify a pinched sciatic nerve as the reason for the agony. "That's why I had the feeling all the time that someone was driving a screwdriver into the cross. Now I'm finally rid of this pain that is driving you crazy," said the guitarist.

"I was close to death"

The whole thing then apparently culminated in a slight heart attack, which was triggered by the massive pain. May then had stents inserted, complications in the heart were thus eliminated. "I am infinitely grateful that I can lead my life again. I was close to death," revealed the 72-year-old, but continued to explain: "I feel good and I am 'ready to rock'", said May.
