This is how you cleverly extend your vacation
2024 will be sunny – at least when it comes to vacation days. Because the new year has even more bridging days in its luggage than in 2023. May in particular stands out as a wonderful month when it comes to holiday planning.
2024 starts pretty well and continues even better: Throughout the year, not a single holiday falls on a weekend (apart from Easter and Pentecost Sunday, which always fall on a Sunday)! On the first Monday of the new year we were able to lie comfortably in bed and cure the hangover. - Augsburg Peace Festival on August 8th (Augsburg only): Thursday
- Assumption of Mary on August 15th (BY, SL only): Thursday
- World Children’s Day on September 20th (TH only): Friday
- German Unity Day on October 3rd: Thursday
- Reformation Day on October 31st (only BB, HB, HH, MV, NI, SN, ST, SH, TH): Thursday
- All Saints Day on November 1st (only BW, BY, NW, RP, SL): Friday
- Day of Penance and Prayer on November 20th (SN only): Wednesday
- Christmas Day on December 25th: Wednesday
- Boxing Day on December 26th: Thursday
Bridge days 2024: Get the most vacation time
The May offers the most opportunities to extend your annual vacation using bridge days: with May 1st on a Wednesday and Ascension Day (as always) on a Thursday.
The October offers a bridge day after German Unity Day, which falls on a Thursday in 2024. And in December You can get 5 days off during Christmas week with just one day of vacation on Friday.
