"Bridgerton" sets records on Netflix. The streaming service has now announced that the series is its most successful format of all time.

The historical drama "Bridgerton" on Netflix continues to break all records. According to the streaming service, the format is now the most successful Netflix original of all time. Within 28 days of the romance's release, 82 million households have seen the series or parts of it.

This makes the story of the Bridgerton family the most watched series by the streaming giant in 83 countries. They made it into the top 10 list in every country except Japan. "Bridgerton" overtook the success of Netflix formats such as "The Witcher" (1st season: 76 million streams), "Lupine" (70 million streams) or "House of Money" (4th season: 65 million).

"Bridgerton" tells the story of Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor, 25), the eldest daughter of an influential family, who makes her debut in the Regency-era London marriage market. It sparks between her and the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page, 31). Apparently, Netflix seems to want to continue the record success. Last week the provider announced that a second season of the series from the pen of Chris Van Dusen and Shonda Rhimes (51, "Grey's Anatomy") was planned.
