Bridgerton: showrunner reveals – these characters could get their own spin-off on Netflix after “Queen Charlotte”.

BRIDGERTON

“Bridgerton” tells the love story of the Bridgerton siblings in two seasons so far. The Netflix series has also received a spin-off. For showrunner Shonda Rhimes, however, that’s just the beginning.

  • The Netflix series “Bridgerton” tells the romantic stories of the eight Bridgerton siblings Daphne, Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Eloise, Francesca, Hyacinth and Gregory.
  • The spin-off Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Tale also explores the complicated love affair between Queen Charlotte and King George.
  • If showrunner Shonda Rhimes had her way, at least one more spin-off would see the light of day that tells the story of all origins.

There’s nothing the English royal court loves more than gossip and “Bridgerton” has plenty of it. That’s why the stories that can be told in the Netflix series don’t stop. But one thing burns showrunner Shonda Rhimes (“Grey’s Anatomy”) especially under the fingers.

In the eight planned seasons of “Bridgerton” so far, the love stories of the eight Bridgerton siblings are told. But not without countless dramas. So the eldest sister Daphne found her happiness in love with Duke Simon Basset in the 1st season, although he never wanted to marry. The eldest son Anthony also found happiness in the second season, despite the love entanglement with two sisters.

Before Colin discovers his romantic feelings for Penelope Featherington in the upcoming third season, the hit series also received its first spin-off with “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story”. This takes place over 50 years before the events of the main series and tells the love story of Queen Charlotte and the ailing King George.

But it shouldn’t stop with this spin-off alone, as Shonda Rhimes reveals in an interview with the US magazine “Entertainment Weekly”. In addition to the love stories of her eight children, mother Violet Bridgerton also has a heartbreaking story to tell that her children follow as a role model.

I’m obsessed with Violet. She is very interesting as a character and has many facets in her life that we don’t fully know yet. It’s another complicated love story.

Shonda Rhimes to Entertainment Weekly

Violet married her husband, Lord Edmund Bridgerton, for love when she was young. Together with him she founded a happy and large family. But their happiness in love was suddenly torn apart, as we learn in “Bridgerton”.

Edmund died at the age of 38 when he was in the garden with his son Anthony and was stung by a bee. This shattered Violet’s happiness. She lost her will to face life and fell heavily pregnant into a depression. From then on, Anthony, who was just 18 years old, had to take on responsibility for the family.

Even 10 years after her husband’s death, Violet has not gotten over the loss. In “Bridgerton” we can only guess how intense her love for Edmund must have been, because little is known about her love affair with her husband.

That could change with a dedicated spin-off series. We’d learn more about the deep emotions that shared Violet and Edmund’s bond and perhaps better understand why their children are modeling themselves on this relationship.
