Before Nicola Coughlan landed her dual role in the Netflix hit Bridgerton, the actress auditioned for another series.

Nicola Coughlan, 35, co-stars in the Netflix hit “Bridgerton” with her role as Penelope Featherington, who is also behind gossip columnist Lady Whistledown. Before the actress joined the series, she auditioned for another hit Netflix series, she revealed in an interview with BuzzFeed.

Nicola Coughlan auditioned for Stranger Things

“I auditioned for ‘Stranger Things’ a few years ago,” she reveals in an interview. Coughlan therefore wanted to play the role of Robin, which was ultimately played by Maya Hawke, 23. “She was way better than I ever would have been,” says Couglan. It was a “good lesson” for her. She learned to look again at things she didn’t understand. This is the only way to understand “why it’s nothing personal”.

“Bridgerton” breaks record

The second season “Bridgerton” has been available since March 25, 2022 and after just one week it broke the Netflix record for the most-watched English-language television series. Seasons three and four have already been confirmed by the streaming service.

The first part of the long-awaited fourth season of “Stranger Things” is available on Netflix from May 27th. The second part will follow on July 1st.
