After a first recall launched on April 5, the Lactalis group again asked consumers to bring back 24,000 cheeses after having identified a “probable source” of listeria contamination.

New recall for cheeses from the Lactalis group. After a first campaign launched on April 5, Fromageries de Normandie requested, on Friday April 8, the recall of its raw milk cheeses after having identified a “probable source of contamination” listeria, the bacteria responsible for listeriosis. In all, these are 24,000 cheeses who are affected by this new recall. After that of Graindorge cheeses, Lactalis went back to the source of the problem and identified the origin of the contamination. This was caused by “raw milk from one of the partner farms”the group said.

Fromageries de Normandie, acquired by the Lactalis group in 2016, therefore ordered the recall of “all raw milk cheeses made with the milk of the producer concerned”. Thus, bries, coulommiers, camemberts and small camemberts of the brands Normanville, Good Norman, daisies, Grain barley, Traditions of Normandy and We anti-waste are affected by this recall campaign. So far, no poisoning has been reported.

What are the affected numbers?

To help consumers identify the products concerned by this recall, Les Fromageries de Normandie has revealed the batch identification numbers. These are lots 010322LI8, 030322LI8, 070322LI8, 090322LI9, 110322LI4, 150322LI3 and 170322LI1, stamped FR 14.371.001 CE. A toll-free number has also been set up for the consumers concerned: 0800 120 120.

It is imperative not to consume products contaminated with the bacteria Listeria, which causes listeriosis. Symptoms are usually flu-like, and can develop several days after eating contaminated food. The warning signs: moderate to intense fever, headache, body aches and digestive system disorders such as nausea, diarrhea and vomiting. From the first symptoms, it is strongly recommended to consult a doctor. Left untreated, listeriosis can lead to severe neurological complications, such as meningitis or encephalitis, and be life-threatening.
