Brigitte Bardot had insulted hunters on the Internet as “subhumans”. She has now been fined for what she said.

Because the French ex-actress Brigitte Bardot (86) had insulted the head of the French Hunters Association, she has now been fined a total of 7,000 euros. According to matching media reports, a court in Arras in northern France found the 86-year-old, who did not attend the hearing, guilty of the insult.

“Cowardly subhumans”

In a post on the website of her animal welfare foundation, Bardot described hunters as “vile cowardly subhumans” and “terrorists of the animal world”. Willy Schraen (51), the head of the French hunting association, named them as a “crass example” of this. The association then sued the former actress after he claimed to have received death threats.

With the verdict, Bardot must remove the post on the page. In addition to the actual fine of 5,000 euros, Bardot has to pay compensation of 1,000 euros to Schraen. She also has to pay the court costs of 1,000 euros.
