They competed in elegance and class. This Tuesday, June 28, Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron flew to Spain. In Madrid, the presidential couple will attend the 32nd NATO summit. But before, as tradition dictates, they accepted the invitation of Letizia and Felipe from Spain, who organized a gala dinner at the Zarzuela Palace. For the occasion, the First Lady had opted for a colorful outfit that suited her perfectly. In a blue-green dress belted at the waist and with long sleeves, Brigitte Macron posed in front of the photographers with a smile on her face. By her side, Letizia from Spain had opted for a more neutral and solemn style: a long dress in black taffeta with a round neckline, sleeveless and with a midi skirt, signed by The 2nd Skin, a Spanish brand.

On the spot, Brigitte Macron and Letizia from Spain broke the protocol, yet very serious. As noted by the Iberian media, the French and Spanish couples did not fail to show their closeness. Between broad smiles and gestures of mutual respect, the queen and the First Lady broke protocol … by greeting each other with a kiss. This gesture demonstrates once again that Felipe, Letizia and Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron get along wonderfully. And their complicity does not date from yesterday. It was during a visit by the royal couple in 2015 that the President of the Republic, then Minister of the Economy, had for the first time participated in a public dinner with his wife. An official appearance which had not failed to touch the hosts of the Elysée.

Emmanuel Macron: this last minute change to please the Spanish couple

In 2018 once again, the two couples caused a sensation during a cultural visit to Paris. At the Grand Palace. they had browsed the exhibition dedicated to the artist Juan Miro. For the occasion, Brigitte Macron wore an elegant cream dress while Queen Letizia opted for a very chic blue Delpozo dress.. The two women proved to be accomplices in the halls of the Grand Palais. In front of the photographers, the quartet did not hesitate to play it friendly, sharing laughter and pats on the back. After this visit, Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron as well as King Felipe and Queen Letizia went to dinner… but not at the Elysée Palace as tradition dictated. “Emmanuel Macron finally opted for a more informal atmosphere to accentuate the intimate nature of the meeting, according to sources from La Zarzuela (the offices of King Felipe VI, editor’s note)”explained in particular the Spanish newspaper El Periódico.
