Because if Brigitte Macron chose an autumnal color, Jill Biden preferred a very flashy shade. Emmanuel Macron’s wife donned an elegant flowing fir green dress with long sleeves, a color she rarely wears, unlike beige and navy blue. On his side, Joe Biden’s wife was sublime in a close-fitting fuchsia pink dress.

Although with opposite colors, the two First ladies chose outfits with turtlenecks and pumps, black for Brigitte Macron, pink for Jill Biden. During this symbolic ceremony, President Joe Biden qualified Brigitte and Emmanuel Macron as“close friends”emphasizing that it is a “true honor” for him to “welcome for the first state visit of [s]on administration and to celebrate the current strength and vitality between France and the United States of America”. For the President of the USA, France is the “oldest ally” of his country and a “unwavering partner” while Emmanuel Macron referred to the two nations as “sisters in the struggle for freedom”.

Emmanuel Macron: his symbolic gifts for the Bidens

This Thursday, December 1 in the evening, Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron will be received by their American counterparts for a very chic dinner. Before this reception, the presidential couple offered symbolic gifts to Jill and Joe Biden. The Head of State first offered the American President a Christofle cup, a famous goldsmith and tableware house whose objects were notably present on the mythical liner Normandy. Emmanuel Macron also took a vinyl of a particular song with him : Dabadabada, the trailer for the film A Man and a Woman by Claude Lelouch, present during this trip. This song and this film are a symbolic nod to the love story of Joe and Jill Biden since they went to see this film on their first date.
