  • A trick makes it easier to type on WhatsApp with one hand.
  • We show how this works on Android phones and iPhone.

You can also use the Messenger WhatsApp with one hand, but typing with one hand can be difficult, especially with large smartphones. It is difficult for the thumb to reach the other side of the screen. It quickly becomes tiring. But it doesn’t have to be a small cell phone.

Save your money and activate the one-handed keyboard in Messenger. If you are in the chat, you can align the keyboard to the right or left in just a few simple steps, making it easier to type with one hand.

Set one-hand keyboard

Depending on your smartphone and settings, you can set the one-handed keyboard in different ways. On the iPhone you call up the keyboard in the chat and then press and hold the world icon at the bottom. Now select the desired keyboard orientation. Don’t you see a world icon? Then press and hold the emoji icon instead.

  • Press and hold world icon in keyboard
  • Alternatively press and hold the emoji symbol in the keyboard
  • Align the keyboard to the right or left

On Android phones like the Samsung Galaxy S9, on the other hand, you tap the three dots in the keypad, then select “Text editing” and then the desired keyboard layout.

  • Tap the three dots above the keyboard
  • select modes
  • Choose one-handed keyboard

Protection against WhatsAppitis

The adjustment is also good for your health, because if you stretch your thumb too much, you risk painful inflammation. You can find more tips on how to protect yourself from WhatsAppitis in the linked article.

Instead of typing in your messages, you can of course alternatively send them as voice messages or dictate them to Messenger. You can find out how to do this in the linked instructions.
