The date for the British Academy Film Awards has been set, but where will the stars stroll the red carpet?

The British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) will take place on Sunday February 16th next year. The organizers announced this on April 19th, as the industry magazine “Deadline” reports, among others.

This means that the event, which is considered the British equivalent of the US Oscars, will take place exactly two weeks before the next Academy Awards, which are scheduled for March 2, 2025. The Berlin International Film Festival also takes place during this period. The Berlinale opens its doors on February 13, 2025 and runs until February 23.

BAFTA winner 2024 was “Oppenheimer”

The British have not yet announced the location of the event. The prizes were last awarded on February 18th at the Royal Festival Hall in London. The big winners of this year’s awards were “Oppenheimer” by Christopher Nolan (53) with seven awards, Giorgos Lanthimos’ (50) “Poor Things” with five awards and “The Zone of Interest” with the German actress Sandra Hülser (45), who received three trophies.

According to media reports, the broadcast of the awards ceremony on BBC One was watched by an average of three million people. There were also 20.6 million video views on social media. Voting for the award winners takes place in three rounds. The jury consists of the 7,800 voting members of the Academy.
