British Tory MP Neil Parish resigns after allegations of watching porn on his smartphone in Parliament. The 65-year-old bowed to pressure to step down as MP for Tiverton and Honiton. He had already been suspended by his conservative faction on Friday. At the same time, Parish admitted to the BBC that he had viewed the pornographic material on his cell phone. The second time he looked at the material consciously. “What I did was absolutely wrong,” Parish said. He apologizes for that. The allegations by women MPs from the Tory parliamentary group became known this week. The parliamentarians said they saw a colleague watching porn on his cell phone in the plenary hall. A name was not initially mentioned.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson had expressed outrage and criticized the behavior as “manifestly unacceptable”. With the UK local and regional elections on May 5, the scandal came at a great inconvenience for the Prime Minister.
