The Royal Family’s new Christmas cards have been released. This is how the cards of the royal couple and the princely family differ.

King Charles III (75) and Royal Wife Camilla (76) as well as Prince William (41) and his wife Princess Kate (41) have published the photos of their traditional Christmas cards. The royal couple shared their Christmas card on Instagram, which has the same words as the year before: “We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”

The accompanying photo shows the British King and Queen on their big day of the year: the coronation on May 6th. They can be seen in magnificent clothing, with a crown, coronation tunic and the throne robe. According to the Daily Mail The robe made of violet silk velvet with gold embroidery was worn by King George VI in 1937. (1895-1952). His wife Camilla’s coronation dress was designed by British designer Bruce Oldfield (73).

In 2022, the royal couple chose a picture by photographer Samir Hussein for the card; this year the picture was by Hugo Burnand (60). He took it on coronation day in the throne room of Buckingham Palace, the post says. It is the couple’s second Christmas card since the death of Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022).

William and Kate present black and white family photo

Charles’ eldest son presents himself in a different setting: “Our family Christmas card for 2023” is what heir to the throne Prince William and his wife Princess Kate write about a black and white family portrait. Together with their three children Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (8) and Prince Louis (5), they pose smiling, sometimes arm in arm, in front of the camera.

Their card is less formal than that of the royal couple, but also less private than in previous years. In 2022, the family appeared holding hands in casual clothing at their country estate in Norfolk. Two years ago they chose a snapshot from their vacation in Jordan. The photo for 2023 was taken in Windsor at the beginning of the year by Josh Sinner, as People reports.
