He is one of the most dangerous serial killers in Great Britain: Robert Maudsley (68), also known as “Hannibal The Cannibal”, (in German: “Hannibal, the cannibal”). Although his nickname suggests, the 68-year-old did not eat his victims.
For the holidays Maudsley wanted one thing above all else: company. If necessary, it could also be a budgie. The serial killer asked the authorities several times to change his situation. Once he asked if he could poison himself and die. But the prison administration remained tough – and the serial killer alone. And that’s how it should stay for the rest of his life, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Since 1983, that is for almost 40 years, it has eked out its existence on 5.5 x 4.5 meters, it receives its meals through a hole in the wall. He spends 23 hours in the glass box and has no contact with other inmates or guards. He only sees people when the food is brought to him or he is allowed to move outdoors for an hour a day.
Maudsley continues to kill as a prisoner
He is serving his sentence in Wakefield prison in Yorkshire, England. The prison is also called “Monsters Palace” because the most dangerous criminals in Great Britain are imprisoned here. The single glass cell was built especially for Maudsley in 1983.
Maudley committed his first murder in 1974. At the time he was living in London, was a drug addict and was earning his living as a “rent boy”. That means: he sold his body for money. When a suitor showed him pictures of child pornography, he freaked out and killed the man. In doing so, he prepared his victim in such a way that he “could no longer be recognized as a person”.
He was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder. More murders followed as a prisoner – and Maudsley became a serial killer nicknamed “Hannibal the Cannibal”. In 1977 and 1978 he tortured and murdered two imprisoned child molesters and as a result was kept away from other prisoners and put in the glass box. There he should stew until the end of his life.
