Britney Spears and Elton John have released a joint single, Hold Me Closer.

Elton John and Britney Spears have released their song “Hold Me Closer” – and are directly at the top of iTunes.

Britney Spears (40) and Elton John (75) released their single “Hold Me Closer” on August 26th. Not only is it the first song the two megastars have shared, it’s also Spears’ first new song in about six years. The fans seem to be quite taken with the reinterpretation of his hit “Tiny Dancer”. If you look at the iTunes charts under “Songs” at the moment, you’ll find the duet in first place in Germany.

At the top in several countries

The international listeners were obviously very excited about the collaboration between the two. The British “Independent” reportsthat the song is also at the top of the UK and US iTunes charts. According to the celebrity portal “TMZ” the song is currently leading the list in 35 countries.

“I’m incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to work with Britney Spears,” John said in a press release. And Spears gushed: “It was a huge honor to be asked by Sir Elton John to record one of his iconic songs with him.”

Also published on Friday YouTube clip for “Hold Me Closer” already has more than 380,000 views. And Spears’ and John’s song should probably occupy one of the top spots in the official German charts in the coming week.
