Britney Spears’ father Jamie has finally agreed to relinquish her guardianship after years of war with his daughter.
A long-awaited victory for pop icon Britney Spears, 39, who can finally breathe a sigh of relief today! After years of quarreling with her father, Jamie Spears, 69, he is finally ready to give up guardianship, reports the “New York Post”.

Jamie Spears agreed to step down as guardian of his daughter’s multi-million dollar fortune on Thursday, August 12, 2021. Although Jamie has long been intransigent and argued that there are no “real reasons for suspension or removal” of his person as a guardian for his daughter, he now finally admitted that it would be in her best interests if he resigned: “Although Mr. Spears has been the target of unjustified attacks, he does not believe that a public dispute with his daughter over his continued guardianship service would be in her best interests,” said the Los Angeles Superior Court file. “Mr. Spears intends to work with the court and his daughter’s attorney to prepare for an orderly transition to a new guardian, “said his attorney.
Britney Spear’s “slave life” has come to an end
Jamie Spears has been in control of his daughter’s finances since 2008 after she suffered a mental breakdown. At the time, Britney was not only “suffering mentally and emotionally, she was manipulated and in financial need,” claims Jamie. He allegedly came to the rescue of his daughter to protect her. However, the pop star told the court in June that her father enjoyed controlling her, describing how she was drugged, coerced into birth control and forced to perform on stage under the guardianship agreement. “I’m not here to be a slave,” she said at the time.
The “Toxic” singer’s attorney, Mathew Rosengart, officially petitioned the court on July 26, 2021 to release Jamie from guardianship so that Britney could be freed from the “Kafkaesque nightmare” that her life had become. “We are delighted that Mr. Spears and his lawyer realized today that he must be fired,” said Rosengart in a statement. “This is a great victory for Britney Spears and another step towards justice.”
