In early 2021, “Framing Britney Spears” caused a sensation. Now the successor “Controlling Britney Spears” is to be shown.

In February, the release of the New York Times documentary “Framing Britney Spears” caused a stir. Now, on the night of September 25th, at 4:00 a.m. German time, a follow-up to the documentary will surprisingly be broadcast in the USA. “Controlling Britney Spears” is shown by the US broadcaster FX and the streaming service Hulu. The daily explains that in “Controlling Britney Spears” new details about the life of the singer with the guardianship should be seen.

Britney Spears (39) was incapacitated in 2008 and has been fighting against guardianship for some time. The singer had stated in court, among other things, that her finances, her career, her private life and even the decision about other children are controlled.

A life like “in prison”

In “Controlling Britney Spears” several insiders are supposed to unpack. There is talk of a “surveillance machine” that has monitored every step of the singer. A former employee of a security company hired by Spears’ father and guardian Jamie, 69, said, “It really reminded me of someone who was in jail.” The security staff were “basically prison guards”.

Meanwhile, a documentary about Britney Spears will also appear on Netflix shortly. “Britney vs Spears” will air on September 28th. The director Erin Lee Carr and the journalist Jenny Eliscu also deal with guardianship.
